Global Yodel

Jesse Weinberg contacted me a couple of months ago offering to feature my work on her lovely visual travel blog, Globel Yodel. Her philosophy is:

TRAVEL THROUGH A LOCAL LENS.

"Global Yodel is based on one simple idea: ones home is another’s destination.

This website explores the places and cultures of our globe, from the perspective of someone who really knows their spot, the local. This place-specific gallery, travel guide and artist showcase is as practical as it is just plain fun."

I was stumped for a while and finally created a collage with a Cassandra Church as Frida Kahlo shot with an everyday scene of Santa Monica Pier. It was a fun exercise coming up with something interesting in my own backyard. I actually had to get away to the desert and shoot there, in order to find my inspiration back home.

VIVA FRIDA!

This is the first in a series of portraits I'm creating through a collaboration with Palace Costume.
Cassandra Church breathes life into one of my favorite painters, Frida Kahlo.

Air Guitar

I rented this jewel encrusted electric guitar for a shoot I recently did of a female musician.
We weren't able to use it, so I had to shoot it in my studio because I think it's so damn cool.

Puzzled

I'm feeling a bit like a puzzle these days.
Not sure if life is unravelling or if it's in construction.
Sometimes the two states look similar.
