somehow, i have this new flip camera. it's very cool and portable and user friendly. i'm working on learing imovie and hope to post some of my videos...maybe scenes of venice....
i've been thinking about my dad a lot lately. holidays. missing him. this is a photo of him taken by my grandfather. i painted over it. i felt closer to him.
i haven't been inspired by music in a while, but now that "winter" in los angeles is setting in, i am finding lovely cinematic composers that bring me into their world in one note....the first composer is ludovico einaudiLink, from italy. the second is johann johannsson,Link from iceland. yum.
i've been working a lot in photoshop using alien skin filters, lighting effects, lens flare, etc. probably all very obvious to many, but newish to me...so, it's fun to revisit old images using these tools that are new to me...
i photographed one of my favorite models, kara birkentstock, yesterday. the lovely nina mcdermott on make up & hair & props. we made quite a team. i'm making a big push to shoot more for stock and am loving the strobes & on camera flash!
trying to use more studio lighting in my work. the genius vu ong came up with a look that i like. just trying to set it up on my own & perfect it....also, my favorite wall in venice using on camera flash....
i wrote and illustrated this book a couple of years ago for my daughter. i have finally colorized the images and have created a book with blurb. my next step is to create a more economical, smaller version, which i will do in the coming days.
the amazing julia dean of the julia dean workshops is in the process of writing a book about using on camera flash for portraits. all of the images will be shot in venice beach. this is my first attempt at my contribution to the book.
this is an image i shot a couple of years ago using polaroid 665. it appears in this month's issue of SHOTS MAGAZINE, who's theme this month is dreams.
